After working with Kelly Lowry to design her new logo and make a series of promotional videos for her new branding as the “Conscious Entrepreneur”, we turned to rebranding her website to follow suit.
My initial task has been to design the graphics for a image slider for the top of the webpage (similar to the one on my site!). Some I designed using the portrait photos from my photoshoot with Kelly while we were doing the filming, and others I pieced together with snippets taken from her at her workshops!
Overall I think they make a great addition to her website, and definitely grab your attention! But also the key was to create designs that tied nicely with her branding, looked professional, and reflected her unique personality.
When I took the photographs of her on our photoshoot, the day wasn’t too beautiful unfortunately, and a bleak sky became the backdrop of a couple of the photographs. This was unfortunate, but I was keen to use the great photos anyway, and use my photoshop skills to make them look even better! Here is an example of one of the photographs from the shoot.
The sky suddenly took a turn for the worse that day, and we were left with dark rain clouds. Rather than say, “it is how it is”, I used some advanced Photoshop selection and masking techniques to extract Kelly from her original location, and place her somewhere that better reflected what we were trying to communicate with her photos!
With several hours of tweaking the selection, manipulating the light source, colour matching and blurring parts of the background at different distances to create a natural depth of field effect, you’d never know we didn’t shoot the photo on a gorgeous pacific island! However I still wished I took this photo where it looks like it was taken!
Things are not always what they seem!
